چکیده

Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) are considered normal in many circumstances but can act as markers to other cardiac disease such as cardiomyopathy and ischemic heart disease. This case is presented to illustrate frequent PVCs as a marker for serious heart disease.

Comparison of the mortality between ischemia and frequent premature ventricular contractions on an exercise test.

Ischemia on an exercise test (ET) is a known risk factor for cardiovascular mortality. However, the magnitude of risk of frequent premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) on ET is often overlooked. This analysis reveals that the quantitative additional mortality risk on ET presented by frequent PVCs is similar to ischemia.

Radiofrequency ablation can reverse the structural remodeling caused by frequent premature ventricular contractions originating from the right ventricular outflow tract even in a “normal heart”

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to evaluate whether frequent premature ventricular contractions originating from the right ventricular outflow tract remodel the cardiac structure and function in patients with a "seemingly normal heart" and whether radiofrequency ablation can reverse this remodeling. METHODS Sixty-eight patients with idiopathic frequent premature ventricular contractions o...

Left Atrial Appendage Dysfunction in a Patient with Premature Ventricular Contractions - A Risk Factor for Stroke?

A 16-year-old female with ventricular dysfunction and frequent ventricular arrhythmia presented with a cardioembolic stroke. Prior electrophysiology study and ablation was performed for ventricular tachycardia (VT). For remaining ventricular ectopy, the patient was maintained on carvedilol and mexiletine. After one year on this regimen, she presented with an acute stroke. Transesophageal echoca...

Giant Coronary Artery Aneurysm With Fistula to the Pulmonary Artery Complicated by Frequent Ventricular Premature Contractions

Giant coronary artery aneurysm with a fistula is a rare condition. The presence of a giant aneurysm imposes considerable health risks. We report a case of a 67-year-old woman who presented with frequent ventricular premature contractions caused by a giant coronary aneurysm arising from a branch of the left anterior descending coronary artery that had a fistulous connection to the pulmonary arte...

Frequent Premature Ventricular Contractions and Cardiomyopathy, Chicken and Egg situation.

Premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) are usually regarded as benign in the absence of structural heart disease. However, frequent PVCs can lead to depressed LV function, called PVC-induced cardiomyopathy and can be reversible after suppression of PVCs. On the other hand, PVCs can be a part of underlying structural heart disease and may be linked to increased risk of sudden death. In this w...
